Plan a farewell party the class will enjoy

Leaving primary school deserves one more chance to laugh, sing and make memories together. These ideas help teachers, parents and the organising committee prepare an evening that suits their class.

Music that means something to your class

Collect favourite songs before the party and share them along with the school’s music guidelines. Include that tune from school camp or a song the class always sings together. The DJ mixes familiar hits with requests and considers age-appropriate lyrics.

A dance battle can be fun without becoming a competition. Children can dance with friends, join in gradually or watch for a while.

After the musical or on a separate evening

The disco can round off the farewell programme after the musical, thank-you speeches and formal moments. Share the timetable and explain whether everything takes place in the same room.

For a separate party, agree arrival and finishing times and tell parents where to collect their child. Include speeches and other activities in your request so we can see how the disco fits.

An example running order

Use this as an idea, rather than a fixed show programme:

  • Arrival: put coats away and find friends.
  • Getting started: a familiar song invites the first dancers onto the floor.
  • Party time: hits, requests and perhaps a group dance or battle.
  • A breather: time for a drink and a chat.
  • Finishing together: a song that means something to the class, followed by an organised collection time.

Choose your preferred performance duration in the request. Allow separate time for speeches, setup and packing away.

What the school or parent committee arranges

Groep8DJ.nl provides the DJ, sound, disco lighting, setup and packing away. The school or parent committee arranges the venue and adult supervision. Choose one contact person who knows the schedule and is available during the event.

  • How many pupils and classes are coming?
  • Is there enough clear space for dancing?
  • Can the DJ reach the room easily with equipment?
  • Where is power available, and what sound rules apply?
  • Who supervises, provides drinks and organises collection?
  • Are there sensory, accessibility or participation needs to discuss?

Include these details in your request. You do not need every detail settled before getting in touch.

A party where everyone feels comfortable

Not every pupil wants to be in the middle of the dance floor. Leave room to watch, join a friend or sit quietly. Dancing should be an invitation, not a compulsory performance.

A school hall, gym or hired venue can work well. Outdoors may also be possible with suitable space, power and shelter; discuss a bad-weather alternative. The DJ adapts music and volume to the group and setting. Share relevant needs beforehand.

What parents and schools say

Google reviews of the Kinderdisco.nl team. Pretwin is the predecessor of Kinderdisco.nl.

What a party! Our son celebrated his seventh birthday with a kids disco. The children were jumping from the very first song. The DJ knew exactly what they enjoyed. Everything ran smoothly and even the parents joined in with the dances. Highly recommended!

Parent from Enschede · Pretwin

The kids disco at our school in Amsterdam-Noord was a success. Everything went smoothly. The DJ had the group under control and turned it into a real show.

Teacher Sam · Pretwin

We wanted something special for the final-year farewell. The disco was energetic, well organised and tailored to the group. Even the toughest boys joined in.

Questions about your school leavers’ party

Is a kids disco too childish for the oldest primary pupils?

The DJ adapts music, presentation and interaction to the class. Tell us what pupils enjoy and what they would rather skip. Familiar hits and their own requests help make it their party.

Can pupils request songs?

Yes. Collect a few favourites from each pupil in one list before the party. The DJ considers what suits the group and the flow of the evening. A request list provides inspiration; it does not guarantee every song will be played.

Does the DJ consider song lyrics?

Yes, the DJ considers lyrics and the pupils’ ages. Share any school rules about music or particular songs beforehand.

Can the disco follow the farewell musical?

Yes. Include the musical, speeches and preferred disco start time in your request. Tell us if they share a room so setup can be coordinated with the other activities.

How long should the party last?

Start with the time available after the musical and speeches and before collection. Choose your preferred duration in the request and consult the packages. A separate party needs different planning from a disco after a long programme.

What does the DiscoShow include?

A kids DJ, professional sound, disco lighting, setup, packing away and a show with music and interaction. The school or parent committee provides the venue and supervision. Check your selected package and proposal for the precise arrangements.

How much space and power are needed?

This depends on the venue, group and selected show. Describe the room, pupil numbers and power supply. Mention stairs, long access routes or difficult entrances so practical requirements can be agreed beforehand.

Can we hold the party in the playground?

Possibly, if space, power and shelter are suitable. Discuss how equipment will stay dry and sheltered and what will happen in bad weather. Include an indoor alternative if you have one.

Does the DJ supervise the children?

The DJ runs the DiscoShow. The school or parent committee arranges sufficient adult supervision. Decide who covers the entrance, supports children who need help and manages collection.

What if a pupil does not want to dance or becomes overwhelmed?

Children can participate in different ways. Provide somewhere to sit quietly or watch. Discuss relevant needs with the school and share them beforehand so the DJ can take them into account.

Can several final-year classes celebrate together?

Tell us the total pupil numbers, number of classes and venue. If younger pupils or siblings are attending, include their ages, as this affects the show’s content.

Can we choose a theme or final song?

Yes, share your idea beforehand. A colour theme or a favourite class singalong can be lovely. Discuss special requests first; decorations and extra activities are not automatically included.

Which DJ will come?

Groep8DJ.nl works with several kids DJs. You book the DiscoShow, not automatically a particular performer. Browse the DJ overview and mention any preference in your request. A preference is not a guarantee.

How much does a school leavers’ disco cost?

View the packages and provide your date, venue, pupil numbers and preferred duration. Your proposal shows the offer for your event, so the parent committee can assess the actual arrangements.

How do we book and pay?

Start your request on Groep8DJ.nl. If the date is available, book and pay the full amount straight away through Mollie. Dates are not held without payment. If availability is confirmed later, you have 24 hours to book and pay.

What should the parent committee agree first?

Agree the date, budget, pupil numbers, venue and duration. Choose one contact and decide who books and pays. Then collect song requests and practical details in one overview.
